Thousands of people took part today in a foot race in Kampala, which was held on the 61st birthday of Kabaka Mutebi II, the king of Buganda. The race started at 7 o'clock GMT. Members of the Hungarian volunteer medical mission, Dr. Zita Bagdi, Dr. Zsofia Kapi, Attila Gaspar, Bernadett Kovacs and Daniel Kovacs, who started medical work in the Kingdom of Buganda, felt it obvious to attend the race. During the registration process they received a map, a backpack and a lightweight visor, and then started the race in a good atmosphere.Futas Buganda kiralyanak szuletesnapjan 2016. 04. 10. 3

The participants cheered each other on and praised the king as they ran alongside each other regardless of age, religion, skin color or sex. We saw mothers carrying small children, older men and women, kids, and even nuns who were able to run the full distance. The most interesting were the women who had never worn sports clothing,or even pants: they have pulled the sports jerseys over the traditional African clothing.

The attention of Dr. Zsofia Kapi was needed when an 86 year old man from the Baganda tribe became ill. He received swift first aid, although luckily he only showed signs of fatigue. With the help of some grape sugar, water and rest his pulse was restored and he was thankful for the help, and we thanked him for being an inspiration for younger people."
