BLS kepzes sztaroknak 2Almost everyone learns first aid when they get their driving licence, but this knowledge is pretty shaky when it comes to a life-or-death situation. The African-Hungarian Union (AHU) makes sure to provide its workers with first-hand, professional information and techniques.

To demonstrate we could watch a first-aid training in the AHU’s office, where Attila Gaspar paramedic - who goes by the name Doc most of the time - introduced the techniques this time to Sorel Kembe, Bebe (Daniel Abebe ) and Irambo Raymond, the AHU Secretary-General.

Although in principle everyone should learn the basics of first aid, for the AHU employees it is extremely important to be able to quickly and confidently respond to emergencies. This is because most of them regularly work in more dangerous countries and locations, but even the coordinators of medical missions can benefit from the training. Therefore the management of AHU decided to continuously train its workers to handle different situations, and this was part of the current first aid training.

At the public event we could learn how to revive someone, and that it is always important to try to provide help. Attila Gaspar said that the biggest mistake that you can make is to stand idly by. Of course, all of this - including resuscitation - has a proper way, but a poorly performed chest compression helps more than not even trying.

On average, there is a 60% chance of survival when resuscitating. This is exactly 60% more than if you did not help at all.
